What is Menopause?
Menopause is really just one day in a woman’s life – the day on which it’s been twelve months to the date of a woman’s last monthly period. Every woman will go through menopause or some form of menopause. For the majority, it will occur naturally when periods stop, and for others when ovaries are removed causing early or premature menopause. Most women will go through menopause naturally between the ages of 45 to 55, with symptoms possibly starting between 4 to 8 years before the final period
One of the first signs of menopause is changes in the patterns of periods, they may become less or more frequent, lighter or heavier. Many women experience mood swings and often don’t feel like themselves and feelings of low self esteem. Sleep patterns can be disrupted and many women feel more anxious or less in control. Many women experience brain fog affecting memory, focus and concentration which could lead to loss of confidence.
Estrogen and progesterone decrease during Menopause which can cause a variety of physical and emotional symptoms. This includes hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood swings, irritability, and sleep disturbances.
Hot Flushes is one of the main symptoms of Menopause and it can be both uncomfortable and be disruptive to daily life. Relaxation and guided visualisation are used in Hypnotherapy to reduce the intensity and frequency of hot flushes.
Hypnotherapy helps women manage Menopause symptoms and improve their overall quality of life.
Hypnotherapy can also be used to address emotional symptoms of Menopause, such as mood swings and anxiety by encouraging a positive mindset. It helps women learn relaxation techniques that can improve the quality of their sleep and reduce insomnia. In addition it can help improve self-confidence and self -esteem as you focus on positive self-talk.
