Migraines are a common neurological disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by intense headaches that can last from a few hours to a few days. Migraines commonly affect around 1 in every 5 women and around 1 in every 15 men and they usually begin in early adulthood. Migraines can be debilitating and significantly affect the quality of life of those who experience them. A migraine is a headache that can cause severe throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on one side of the head. Migraine attacks can last for hours to days, and the pain can be so severe that it can impact  daily activities. Fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) are common in patients with chronic migraines

Common Symptoms of a Migraine

  • Feeling Nauseous
  • Vomiting
  • Increased sensitivity to light and sound, which is why many people with a migraine want to rest in a quiet, dark room
  • Sweating and feeling very hot or very cold
  • Poor concentration
  • Abdominal pain and diarrhoea

One study published in the International Journal of Neuroscience found that hypnotherapy was effective in reducing the duration, frequency, and intensity of migraines. The study included 36 participants who received hypnotherapy for their migraines. The results showed that 86% of participants reported a significant reduction in their migraine frequency and intensity after hypnotherapy.

One study published in the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis looked at the effects of hypnotherapy on migraine sufferers. The study included 47 participants who received hypnotherapy for their migraines. The results showed that 74% of participants reported a significant reduction in their migraine frequency and intensity after hypnotherapy.
